TEMPLE PURA RAMBUT SIWI
This under-visited temple is between Negara and Medewi Beach. The Rambut Siwi Temple is one of the biggest Hindu Temples in Bali.
When the sixteenth-century Hindu priest Nirartha sailed across from Java, he paused at this spot and claimed it as holy
Perched among frangipani on a promontory overlooking the sea, Pura Rambut Siwi occupies a truly beautiful site, set in the cliff bank with wide Indian Ocean just in front.
8 kilometers west of the temple Rambut Siwi you find this magnificent temple of white rock overlooking the river Perancak The coastal village of Perancak is named for this ancient temple, where the hindu priest Dang Hyang Nirartha first set foot on Bali in 1546.
On the Perancak river an amazing sight of the traditional jukung and sampans boats can be seen quietly resting on the river. Maybe it is possible to hop on a jukung and have a ride to the mangroves.
TURTLE CONSERVATION PERANCAK
Perancak Beach is the nesting site for a variety of sea turtles species. The western coast of the island is sloping and spacious, which offers the perfect conditions for turtles, mostly the olive ridley turtle, the leatherback turtle and the hawksbill turtle. The perfect time of the year to visit is from April to September, when the turtles come to lay their eggs. The nesting season is a busy time for local fishermen, including Kurma Asih, who tries to save the eggs from poachers. He will proudly explain to you how it all works and will kindly ask you to make a small donation. Then you can release some baby turtles at the beach. A great experience.
