A guided trek through the national park is a special back-to-nature adventure. Experienced national park guides will take you on an easy journey through the areas where the local flora and fauna can be seen in their natural habitat.
The Bali Barat Park is mountainous and consists of primary monsoon forest, mangrove forest, lowland rain forest, savanna, sea grass vegetation types, coral reefs, sandy beaches and both shallow and deep sea waters.
North West Bali is famous for its birds. Explore the birds with more than 120 species of bird thriving in the national park, many on the endangered species list. Look out for the Bali Starling and visit the breeding program which fearlessly protects these rare and endemic birds.
The park is only accessible with a guide.
For the serious Bird watcher we can offer a bird watching tour starting at 6 AM with one of the best Bird guides in Bali. Please make your reservation in time as he is often booked ! We can also offer tours with other guides. Rates will include entrance fee to the park. You can discuss with the guide what the species you would like to see.
Key bird species: Great-billed Heron, Beach Thick-knee, Grey-cheeked Green Pigeon, Pink-headed Green Pigeon, and the Orange-breasted Green Pigeon , Javan Cuckoo-shrike, Black-winged Mynah (Starling), Javan Banded Pitta, Bali Mynah (Starling), Java Sparrow and many more.
Seeing Bali Starling or Bali Mynah.
The Bali Mynah is critically endangered, and the wild population has been close to extinction since at least 1994. In the year 2000 there were about two to three pairs present in the park. Now numbers have begun to rise again with a rejuvenated captive breeding and release program. The released birds have now begun breeding again in their natural habitat.
Bali Tower and Safari to the Beach Restaurant.
At Menjangan national park you can find the Bali Tower a remarkable and unique structure made from five huge logs, each 33 meters long and 80 cm in diameter. It climbs above the tree-line offering incredible 360 degree views over the Bali Barat National Park and the ocean from the top floor viewing platform. You can also hop on the safari car where you can see some deer or monkeys and drive down to the beach area. Down at Sentigi Beach is the Pantai Restaurant you can have lunch on the wooden deck with the gentle waves playing beneath your feet, within the mangrove maze.
